Following and extended hiatus, Connecticut-native Americana quintet Vasudo has released a new single, “Blood”, a reggae-tinged tune bounces along behind a lengthy narrative, tasteful riffing, and lush harmonies. The track was recorded at Dreamland Recording Studios in Woodstock, NY.
Vasudo features Matt Campbell (vocals, keys) in addition to Goose bandmates Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Peter Anspach (vocals, keys), Jeffrey Arevalo (drums, percussion), and Trevor Weekz (bass).
Though it’s the members of Goose that have made the upcoming debut album from a band that hasn’t performed live in eight years so exciting, it’s Campbell who takes center stage in this latest recording. His buttery vocals help the song glide along an indie-reggae beat that finds Mitarotonda, of all people, taking a backseat as he provides the occasional guitar flourish, at least until a roaring solo that’ll no doubt see some serious extension in a live setting. In Vasudo, the dueling keyboards from Campbell and Anspach remain the stars of the show, as the two toggle between a variety of instruments from a Rhodes to Hammond organ and beyond.
